Being somewhat of a geek and music nerd since childhood, when I was just 14 the owners of Skateland in Waukesha, Wisconsin allowed me to spin records and orchestrate a light show for their customers. In exchange I was allowed to skate for free, which in my mind was the better end of the deal because I loved the idea of being a disc jockey and tinkering with various lighting effects to complement music. This established a great relationship between us and over the next few years I was put on the payroll and helped Skateland develop their audio and lighting systems. Eventually I was asked to DJ at both their Waukesha and Butler, Wisconsin locations, which I loved and always looked forward to going to work..!!
Being passionate about the disc jockey industry, I frequented music and lighting supply centers, such as Uncle Bob’s Music Center, Guitar Center, Best Buy (among others) in effort to stay on top of knowing the best equipment available to build audio and lighting systems. With such knowledge I expanded my horizons and developed a reputation for being an expert on such systems. Through word of mouth, I was often asked to consult with various establishments wanting to build their own multi-purpose (DJ, karaoke, in-house media) audio & lighting systems. I would go in, review their layout, determine the natural and artificial acoustics, consider what they had for power supply and give them consultation as to what would be their best option on a custom audio and lighting system.
By 1988 I was not only consulting as an audio system and lighting expert, I was also building and installing such systems in various night clubs. On completion of these installations I would test them with a live audience at which time I was often asked to DJ on a regular basis. As such, I had the opportunity to perform DJ services at several establishments. Eventually I became the regular DJ at the Red Corvette Night Club for about 5 years. From there I became the DJ at the Sassy Fox Saloon for about 5 years and then became the DJ at Buck Bradley’s Saloon & Eatery for just over 5 years. Throughout that entire time period I would often substitute for disc jockeys at other night clubs when they needed time off and vice versa.
Having designed and developed the audio and lighting systems for Buck Bradley’s Saloon & Eatery, a popular Milwaukee landmark and nightclub, I worked as their disc jockey for over 5 years during which time many of their patrons asked me to provide disc jockey services at various social events (weddings, birthday parties, reunions, etc., etc.). But I was unable to accommodate most of those events because they took place on Friday and Saturday nights, which were the primary nights I was providing disc jockey services at Buck Bradley’s. So, I gave Buck Bradley’s notice in 2014 that I had decided to step out on my own at which time I designed and developed my own audio and lighting systems to disc jockey personal and private events… and now, I'm available to DJ at your special event..!!
